BROOKLYN - Nearly 100 firefighters have been promoted after a special ceremony in Brooklyn.

Some of the city’s finest officially moved up the ranks at the Christian Cultural Center in Starrett City as their families and colleagues looked on. FDNY Commissioner Salvatore Cassano presided over the event.

Two battalion chiefs were promoted to the rank of deputy chief, 52 lieutenants were promoted to captain and 45 firefighters became lieutenants.

The group has a combined work experience that exceeds 1,400 years of service as firefighters.
