THE BRONX - Some Bronx residents are choosing to spend their Memorial Day weekend sprucing up the borough.

Volunteers met at Cruger and Mace avenues for the second annual Love Your Block event.

Neighbors young and old planted flowers and painted over graffiti while enjoying some music and food.

Organizers say the event gives kids an opportunity to learn what it means to give back to their community.

Volunteers all agree that their neighborhood deserves this kind of attention after long-term neglect.
