New Bronx program aims to land veterans new jobs

THE BRONX - A new program in The Bronx is helping those who fought to protect our country find their way back into the work force.

Workforce 1, a new initiative by the City Council and the Seedco organization, provides veterans with the resources they need to find employment. David Maldanado, an Army veteran, says he was happy to return home but had trouble with getting work. After receiving help from the program, he is now a career advisor at Workforce 1.

Program officials are hoping to serve some 400 veterans by the end of the year. They would like to reach a goal of placing 50 veterans in jobs on a monthly basis.
