New head of schools visits Bronx school

THE BRONX - The city's new school chancellor visited a school in the Bronx today as part of a five-borough school tour.

Former Hearst Magazines Chairwoman Cathie Black made a stop at the High School for Violin and Dance during her first day on the job. She walked the hallways and met with students to get a feel of what some of the public schools are like.

Black says she wants to focus on parental involvement and make sure kids have all of the tools they need to be successful. She does admit, however, there are budget issues that still need to be worked out.
