THE BRONX - The subway station in Fordham has gotten a fresh new look.

The station is the third-busiest outlying area in the city. Riders say it badly needed a fresh coat of paint and other improvements. The historic station house was renovated with new doors, windows and a roof. Several platforms were also widened and the station itself was expanded.

Residents say the larger station platform helps them navigate the crowds during rush hour. Many say they now have an easier commute after the station improvements.

The renovations cost close to $30 million and is expected to be completed by April.
