MARBLE HILL - Residents at the Marble Hill Houses are celebrating the beginning of the installation of new security cameras that aim to bring safety to their apartment buildings.

Local politicians and residents hope that the new cameras will deter crime and vandalism in the buildings.

Council members Fernando Cabrera and Ydanis Rodriguez secured $800,000 for the project.

The installation will be finished at the end of this year. There will be 53 cameras in total. There will also be a second phase in the future where access cards will be given to get in and out of the buildings.
