THE BRONX - Tenants in the South Bronx are using new technology to keep criminals out of their apartment building.

The Mott Haven Public Housing Projects has been using new technology that gives tenants the ability to view the lobby entrances and exits via their personal computer.

All that is needed for the virtual tenant patrol is three security cameras and a free WI-FI network. The camera footage can even be viewed from a handheld device.

Tenants say the system works. Since the cameras were installed two years ago, no crimes have been reported in the building.

The same system is also used in the Saint Mary's and Mitchel Houses.
