(01/01/08) THE BRONX &舑; The start of a new year in the Bronx was marked by violence throughout the borough Tuesday.
A total of four deaths and one injury have been reported in a rash of crimes throughout the area. Just before midnight, police say a 35-year-old man was fatally shot after a fight on Grand Concourse.
The violence continued when, at 3:30 a.m., a 17-year-old boy was stabbed and killed at the corner of East 183rd and Walton Avenue. A 28-year-old man was also shot and killed at 968 Bronx Park South.
Finally, a 31-year-old man was found dead with gunshot wounds to his shoulder and hip. The medical examiner must determine his exact cause of death.
Shortly after the new year began, police say they opened fire on a man who they believed had a gun. That individual is listed in stable condition with gunshot wounds to his buttocks.
