WASHINGTON - Law enforcement agents have raided residences in New York City as part of an alleged terrorism investigation, and a re preparing to brief Congress about the investigation.
The strip of houses searched is located on 147th Street between Parsons Boulevard and 41st Street. There are several synagogues as well as a number of mosques in the area.
New York Police Department spokesman Paul Browne confirms that searches were conducted in the borough of Queens on Monday by agents of a joint terrorism task force. He would not discuss the matter further. Neither the FBI nor the NYPD will confirm the searches are tied to terrorism.
The FBI says several criminal search warrants have been issued but no arrests have been made.
Separately, federal authorities plan to brief senior lawmakers in Congress on the case later Monday.
