News 12 The Bronx helps Betances Houses unit get fixed

THE BRONX - A resident of Betances Houses in Mott Haven says she's grateful the New York City Housing Authority is finally fixing her apartment after she approached News 12 The Bronx about her predicament. Ann Torres says a leak in the unit above her destroyed part of the wall and ceiling in her kitchen and bathroom. Torres says she started complaining to NYCHA back in May, and even took the agency to court. Last Thursday, she called News 12 The Bronx, and Friday morning workers arrived to fix her kitchen and bathroom, and paint the entire unit. "If it wasn't for you guys, I wouldn't have gotten this done," Torres says. According to Torres, the repairs should be done in a week. A NYCHA spokesperson says the agency takes the residents' health and well-being seriously.
