THE BRONX - Changes are underway at a troubled Wakefield intersection thanks to one News 12 viewer.

John Kelley says he had been fed up with the conditions at East 226th Street and Carpenter Avenue for months, which include malfunctioning traffic lights, faded crosswalk lines and a loose manhole cover.

Kelley’s complaints to 311 went unanswered, so he decided to phone in to News 12's "Ask the Borough President" program Tuesday, and Ruben Diaz Jr. immediately took notice.

News 12 returned to the intersection and found the Department of Transportation making repairs to the traffic light. Kelley says he's pleased that action is finally being taken, but he’s still waiting for the other problems to be addressed.
