THE BRONX - The No. 5 train is temporarily bypassing the Pelham Parkway subway station, catching some commuters by surprise.

A free shuttle bus to Morris Park is being provided for the next two weeks while crews make repairs and remove asbestos. However, the No. 2 train is still operating at the same stop.

The MTA has been warning customers on its website about the closure, but frustrated riders complain that there was no signage posted at the station in advance.

Service is expected to return to normal on Dec. 23.
