No deal reached over teacher evaluations

THE BRONX - The United Federation of Teachers (UFT) has failed to strike a deal with the city over a new evaluation plan.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg says that the teachers union walked out on negotiations, and that its demands would keep the evaluations from working.

By missing today's deadline to submit a plan to the state, city public schools may lose $250 million in state aid and an additional $200 million in grants.
