MORRIS PARK - Morris Park shoppers now have a reason to celebrate. The proposed plan to raise parking meter rates on busy shopping streets has been scratched by local politicians.

The plan wanted to the raise the rate from three quarters to four. Council member James Vacca and local merchant leaders congregated at Big Deals Supermarket to celebrate the victory for the community.

Local merchants did not like the proposed plan because they feared that it would defer shoppers from coming to the area.
