MELROSE - The nonprofit Bronx Parent Housing Network has opened its latest site in Melrose.

The locations aim to help secure affordable housing for single parents. They provide housing for single parents for up to a year, with the goal of having parents be self-sufficient and able to find their own housing after.

City Council members from the Bronx secured nearly $19,000 in funds for the organization.

That money, combined with funding from the city's Human Resources Administration, has helped the organization set up eight centers in the Bronx.
