Norwood Foodtown renovations nearly complete

NORWOOD - The Foodtown in Norwood is almost finished with its renovations following a fire back in December 2009 that destroyed the building.

The store burned down along with three neighboring stores on East 204th Street. It took 160 firefighters to extinguish the blaze that left a neighborhood without a local supermarket.

The owner says the new store will be equipped with brand-new produce and fish sections, a state of the art refrigerator section and a coffee station.

Foodtown is expected to open within the next two weeks, about a month later than the projected completion date.
