Norwood neighborhood evacuated due to suspicious object

NORWOOD - A frightening scene this morning in Norwood as construction workers found a suspicious object they thought was a live missile.

Emergency workers rushed to Hull Avenue off East Gun Hill Road responding to an object residents say looked like a weapon.

Construction workers told News 12 they noticed a blue tarp in their Dumpster, and when they lifted it up, they found what they thought was a live missile pointed up. They called police and those in neighboring buildings were evacuated.

Police tell News 12 they deemed the object inert -- or dead -- and not suspicious.

Construction workers say they have no idea how the object got there.
