THE BRONX - Police are seeking a robbery suspect who has been targeting senior citizens in Belmont.

City Councilman Ritchie Torres says he wants to send a message of zero tolerance to those who commit violence against the elderly.

In the first robbery on Aug. 14, the victim came home to find the male suspect in her living room. He allegedly yanked the chain containing a crucifix she was wearing and a wedding ring.

The second incident happened the following week. Investigators say the man followed another victim into her home, knocked her to the ground, kicked her several times and stole her gold necklace.

City officials urge residents to be aware, lock their doors and walk in groups.

Anyone with information on the suspect is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
