THE BRONX - The New York City Parks Department is offering free events in the Bronx this summer.

The parks department is giving Bronx residents the chance to enjoy the outdoors, including canoeing lessons in Van Cortland Park, fishing lessons in Crotona Park and yoga and body conditioning classes in Pelham Bay Park.

Locals say that since the activities are so close to home they do not have to travel long distances to enjoy the holiday weekend.

The events will be available every weekend throughout the summer.
