NYCHA offering job training program for women

THE BRONX - The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) has announced that it is now accepting applications for a women-only resident training program.

Students will learn how to become building caretakers and receive training in areas like construction and pest control.

Officials say the eight-week program will also provide job placement assistance.

Milagros Colmenares, who participated in the training program last year, says the classes allowed her to become a caretaker for a NYCHA building in The Bronx.

"Today, with NYCHA I see a better future for me and my family," Colmenares says.
