THE BRONX - The NYPD addressed concerns Thursday about complaints of police officer cars blocking the sidewalk in Morrisania.

Residents who live near the 42nd Precinct say officers block the sidewalk with their personal vehicles while they are at work.

However, the NYPD says most of the cars blocking the sidewalk belong to residents who live in the area, and not police officers working at the precinct.

Linda McGill, who is handicapped and uses a motorized chair to get around, says she has lived in the area for 10 years, and that police officers parking their personal cars on the sidewalk has gotten much worse over the years, making accessibility difficult.

The sidewalk remained clear of cars Thursday, but McGill says she doesn't expect it to last very long.

Police say they did just add 30 new officers to the precinct and that parking is very restricted in the area.
