(AP) - New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kellysays the suspected driver in a failed car bombing in Times Squarefits the profile of a "homegrown"

NEW YORK - (AP) - New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kellysays the suspected driver in a failed car bombing in Times Squarefits the profile of a "homegrown" terrorist.

NYPD officials say Faisal Shahzad was amonga recent wave of suspects who have roots in middle-class America,but become radicalized by traveling to overseas terrorist hotbeds.

The 30-year-old Shahzad is accused of driving a bomb-laden SUVinto Times Square on May 1, causing a panic and clearing streets ofthousands of tourists. The Pakistani-American was arrested two dayslater.

Prosecutors say Shahzad claimed he received bomb-making trainingduring a recent trip to Pakistan.

Kelly told reporters after the briefing for private securityexecutives that Shahzad is cooperating in the investigation.
