NYPD enforces 'fare' play for Bronx cabbies

THE BRONX - The NYPD is cracking down on alleged illegal cab drivers in the northeast Bronx.

Investigators say the drivers are centered in Pelham Bay, Throgs Neck and the Westchester Square area. In a month's time, the NYPD says it has caught nearly 20 cab drivers who don't have licenses and were picking up fares.

Officials say drivers who are picking up fares legally will have a Taxi & Limousine Commission sticker displayed on the back of their driver's seat.
