THE BRONX - The NYPD Youth Services Department is gearing up for this summer's Youth Police Academy.

The program is for kids ages 10 to 16 and runs for six weeks. It's free and there are locations in every borough. The program is run entirely by police officers.

Kids in the program get breakfast, lunch, exercise and new skills. They also get mentorship and support from the officers.

Parents must fill out an application for their child before they can take part in the program.
