THE BRONX - The Jewish holy day of Passover is coming up in about two weeks, and the NYPD is taking extra precaution to ensure Jewish families stay safe.

NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton held the department's annual pre-Passover briefing today for religious leaders and community. Bratton says the purpose of the briefing is to make sure the city's Jewish communities feel comfortable forming relationships and communicating with the NYPD.

The NYPD says threats from al-Qaida and other terrorist groups are growing daily, and the department is taking all threats seriously.

Passover begins after sundown on April 14 and lasts just over a week.
