CO-OP CITY - The NYPD hosted an anti-car theft program on Dressier Loop in Co-op City today to help residents protect their cars.

The NYPD says car thefts in the Bronx climbed into the double digits last week. The free program provided drivers with resources to add additional security to their cars.

Drivers were given red and yellow stickers to put on their cars, to allow police to pull over vehicles to make sure the right person is behind the wheel. VIN etching was also done, to display the Vehicle Identification Number on all the windows and make it easier to locate in case it's stolen.
