THE BRONX - Police are searching for a man who they say pretended to be a city employee to get into a victim's house and distract her while another man robbed her.

At around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, police say a man approached a 75-year-old woman outside her home and claimed he was from the Department of Environmental Protection. He allegedly told her he was inspecting the water quality of houses on Morgan Avenue.

Police say the victim let the man inside and while he distracted her, another man came inside and stole $140 cash and $200 worth of antique coins.

The suspect police are looking for is a white man in his 30s who stands around 5 feet 10 inches tall and has black wavy hair. He was last seen wearing jeans, a white checkered shirt, a construction helmet and a reflective vest. The suspect who robbed the house was described as heavyset.

Anyone who recognizes the man in the sketch is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
