MOTT HAVEN - An NYPD police officer is recovering today after being bitten by a dog.

The officer was bit by a pit bull in Mott Haven and was released from Jacobi Hospital today.

Witnesses say the officer was bit inside a building on 141st Street between Crimmins and Beekman avenues a little before 7 a.m. today. Officials says the animal was taken away in a cage after biting the officer.
