NYPD officers to get bigger paychecks

THE BRONX - Under a new contract, members of the NYPD will soon be getting a raise.

Officers in top positions can expect a raise from $59,588 to $65,382. New officers will now start at $35,000, a jump from $25,000.

According to the contract, with the raises, police officers have to give up 10 out of 20 vacation days, which the Police Benevolent Association is not satisfied with.

Police officers who started working with the police department in 2006 will get back pay.
