THE BRONX - The NYPD, along with the MTA, is stepping up security on subway lines across the city in the wake of Osama bin Laden's death.

Police say they extended their midnight patrol team for the second day in a row to ensure there would be more officers on duty during the morning rush. In addition to the added foot patrols, officials have been performing extra bag checks.

Many Bronx commuters admit they've also been on high alert while traveling and say they are comforted by the increased police presence.

The NYPD says its efforts are a precaution and that no specific threats have been received.
