NYPD welcomes 1st ex-military service dog

THE BRONX - The NYPD is welcoming its first former military service dog.

Caesar, a 4-year-old German shepherd, has served three tours oversees. He will patrol NYC subways with officer Juan Rodriguez.

The arrangement will save the NYPD upward of $8,000 in costs that would have gone toward training an inexperienced dog.
