BROOKLYN - The NYPD welcomed 1,159 new members to the force today.

The graduation ceremony was held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The new police officers completed more than six months of training at the police academy.

Many of the graduates, including some from the Bronx, say today marked an achievement of a lifelong dream.

The new members will now be assigned to "Operation Impact," a program that teams rookies with experienced officers.
