THE BRONX - Forecasters say today will be the hottest day of the summer, so far.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the Bronx due to temperatures in the upper 90s.

Forecasters expect a rain shower to cool temperatures off in the mid-afternoon.

The Office of Emergency Management is reminding residents to stay safe during the warm temperatures.

It says to make sure to check on friends and family who are elderly or disabled.

Never leave children or pets alone in the heat.

Also, if it can be avoided, stay out of the sun and drink plenty of water.
