Officers accused of beating man suspended

BRONX - Two officers were suspended after amateur video from a witness showed them attacking Jonathan Baez while he was handcuffed.

The alleged incident occurred on Jan. 5 when it was reported that police were chasing a man during an undercover drug bust. During the chase, police said they tried to shoot a pit bull but the bullets grazed two officers.

However, a video taken by a witness to the incident shows a police officer shoving Baez?s head into the ground as the victim laid on his stomach with handcuffs around his wrists.

The NYPD is investigating the alleged incident and has also reassigned two supervisors for not reporting the event.
