Two correction officers have pleaded guilty in connection with the 2008 beating death of a Rikers Island inmate. Michael McKie and Khalid Nelson were charged

THE BRONX - Two correction officers have pleaded guilty in connection with the 2008 beating death of a Rikers Island inmate.

Michael McKie and Khalid Nelson were charged after 18-year-old Christopher Robinson was found unresponsive in his cell.

According to court documents, 12 inmates were part of a prison fight club known as The Program, which was allegedly organized by officers. Prosecutors believe Robinson's refusal to participate in the club led to his death.

Under their plea agreement, McKie and Nelson face sentences of up to two years. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 17.
