THE BRONX - Officials have launched a full-scale investigation after three bodies were found in a burned-out building on Buchanan Place in University Heights.

Sources say a demolition crew was inside the abandoned building Monday morning when they made the discovery. The Sept. 9 fire has since been deemed suspicious by authorities.

Neighbors say the area surrounding the once-abandoned home had a strong stench in the days following the blaze. Many wondered how fire officials missed the three bodies eight days after the incident.

The cause of the fire is still under review.

The Bronx medical examiner will perform autopsies on the three bodies on Tuesday.
