(08/18/10) THE BRONX - Five Bronx supermarkets have made the list of the city's worst stores for pricing violations.

The Department of Consumer Affairs says the stores used inaccurate check-out scanners, failed to price certain items and charged customers tax on products that are not taxable. Officials say some of the supermarkets have been overcharging customers for months.

Nearly 1,000 violations were issued throughout the city and some of the worst offenders were in some of the Bronx's poorest neighborhoods.

The Western Beef on Morris Avenue and 140th Street is one of the supermarkets on the list. Pathmark on Bartow Avenue and Eastchester Road, Stop & Shop at 5716 Broadway and the Super Stop & Shop in Co-Op City were also on the list.
