Officials award Bronx children with citizenship

Government officials and representatives from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services were on hand at the Bronx Zoo Tuesday to award them with their citizenship.

THE BRONX - The phrase "proud to be an American" now has a new meaning for 25 children and teens from the Bronx.

Government officials and representatives from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services were on hand at the Bronx Zoo Tuesday to award them with their citizenship.

Officials say they hope that the ceremony empowers the children and shows them their opportunities.
