Officials cracking down on illegal BX cabs

PELHAM BAY - The Taxi and Limousine Commission says it is cracking down on unlicensed and uninsured drivers picking up customers near the 6" train station in Pelham Bay.

Cab drivers say illegal livery cabs are taking away customers and subsequent income in the area almost every day.

Over the past few months, inspectors say they have caught almost 50 cab drivers who were unlicensed and uninsured.

Officials say when hailing a cab, residents should look for a company dispatch sticker, a T&LC mark on the license plate and most importantly, a T&LC sticker on the back windshield and back window of the vehicle.
