Officials ID woman killed in hit-and-run

Officials say 27-year-old Gabriela Aguilar-Vallinos was on her bicycle when she was struck by a white Hyundai Genesis just before midnight on Friday.

THE BRONX - Authorities have released the name of the woman who was killed in a hit-and-run accident on City Island.

Officials say 27-year-old Gabriela Aguilar-Vallinos was on her bicycle when she was struck by a white Hyundai Genesis just before midnight on Friday.

They say Aguilar-Vallinos, who worked at Sammy's Shrimp Box, was riding her bike on the City Island Bridge when the sedan slammed into her.

Officials say the driver fled the scene.

Emergency responders found the woman unconscious and unresponsive with severe head injuries. She was taken to Jacobi Medical Center and was later pronounced dead.

Police are still searching for the driver. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
