Officials install median to curb speeding around schools

THE BRONX - The Department of Transportation is installing a painted median on Saint Theresa Avenue after six accidents occurred within two years near schools.

Neighbors say they are concerned because there are two schools in the area. Officials from the DOT met with neighbors to inform them of the new median but some say they are not sure it will be effective.

The DOT also plans to install new center markings. It is also considering a flashing red stop light to help reduce speeding near the schools.
