PARKCHESTER - Nearly a dozen people were injured today in a car crash involving an MTA bus in the Parkchester section.

The crash occurred at around 2 p.m. at East Tremont Avenue on Unionport Road.

Officials say an MTA bus was heading toward Unionport Road when it hit a minivan making an illegal u-turn.

News 12 has learned that 11 people were injured and transported to area hospitals. EMS officials say seven people had minor injuries and two had serious injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.

Sources tell News 12 that the driver of the minivan spoke to police and then left the scene.

Most intersections on East Tremont Avenue have “No U-turn”signs. Investigators say the driver turned anyway and hit the oncoming Bx40 bus.
