THE BRONX - As the old Yankee Stadium enters its final stages of demolition, officials say the slow deconstruction is depriving the community of promised parkland.

Elected officials are pressuring the Parks Department to meet expected deadlines for an 11-acre Heritage Field, which is set to open at the site of the old stadium. According to Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr., the community is frustrated with delays.

President of the city's Economic Development Corporation, Seth Pinsky, says the demolition has been challenging, but vows to have the stadium down by June and the park open by next year.
