THE BRONX - Officials are still trying to figure out what caused a fire on White Plains Road yesterday afternoon.

The four-alarm fire in Parkchester forced dozens of residents to evacuate their homes.

Officials say the fire broke out around 2 p.m. at 1227 White Plains Road on the sixth floor of the apartment building.

Several firefighters suffered minor injuries battling the flames. No residents were injured.

The Red Cross is providing aid to those who were displaced as a result of the fire.
