THE BRONX - Waterfront residents in Locust Point are still struggling with damaged properties as Sandy’s one-year anniversary approaches.

Many believe that the Bronx was the least affected borough during the aftermath of the storm, but 76-year-old Camille Squitieri has been repairing her home ever since Sandy devastated parts of the East Coast last year.

“Trying to recoup as far as fixing up the house has been very stressful," said Squitieri.

Her home was flooded with 3 feet of water, costing more than $50,000 in repairs. Most of the repairs were paid for by insurance.

Squitieri, whose husband recently passed away, says that Bronx residents are very resilient and hopes she will never have to deal with floodwaters again.
