THE BRONX - Visiting Orchard Beach is a lot easier for the disabled.

Friends of Pelham Bay Park and local businesses donated special wheelchairs that move on sand. The chairs can even go into beach water.

Organizers say those on wheelchairs are usually not able to go past a mat on the beach. However, these chairs let them get to the water's edge.

The chairs can be rented out for two-hour intervals by the Parks Department.
