NEW YORK - As of today, outdoor city pools are officially open for the summer season.

Lifeguards are typically on duty from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., but all swimmers should double-check official hours at their local pool.

The nine city pools are open seven days a week until 7 p.m., and admission is free.

Hundreds of kids and adults jumped and splashed around at the city park pools today.

News 12 spoke to kids at Baretto Point Park, who say they're excited to jump in and cool off. The pool offers free swimming lessons every weekday from 9 a.m. to 11a.m. for kids 18 months to 16 years old.
