P.S. 27 in Red Hook to be closed

RED HOOK - Students and parents at P.S. 27 in Red Hook say they're unhappy about the city's plans to close their school.

The Department of Education announced plans to close P.S. 27 and another school in Brooklyn because of poor academic performance.

DOE officials say the Huntington Street school, which accepts students from the elementary level through high school, will be shuttered in phases. Some of the school's high school students say they'd like to graduate from P.S. 27 and hope to stay one more year.
