BRONX - Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz announced the demolition of “The Castle on the Concourse” after 116 years.

P.S. 31 is considered a landmarked building, but has been condemned as a hazard to public safety.

Diaz recalls his time as a student in the “magnificent structure.”

The borough president hopes to see middle income housing, community space and street level shops built at the site.
