Students and teachers from a Bronx public school donated more than 5,000 pounds of food for families in need today.P.S. 83 teamed up with police

THE BRONX - Students and teachers from a Bronx public school donated more than 5,000 pounds of food for families in need today.

P.S. 83 teamed up with police officers from the 49th Precinct to collect a variety of food before the holidays. Students say they wanted to help other people have a great meal on Christmas.

The officers will distribute the donations to local food pantries tomorrow. They say donations are still being accepted at the precinct until New Year's Day.
